The Pispala Schottische event family gets a new member as the folk dance event Tanssimania merges with the adult folk dance groups’ showcase event Tanssimylly. The new Folk Dance Festival TRADI takes place in Tampere 4–6 April 2025 and presents an exciting blend of folk dance and folk music. The spring festival of Pispala Schottische brings along the latest trends and boldest works of the folk dance scene, where traditions take on new forms. The festival’s program will feature new dance pieces inspired by rich folk traditions while also looking boldly towards the future.
The TRADI Folk Dance Festival will also host the Tanssimylly folk dance showcase, which highlights the diversity of the genre from various regions of Finland. In the evenings, folk rhythms and collective dance will be sparkling at the lively festival clubs.
The folk dance festival TRADI continues the long tradition of the Tanssimania event in odd-numbered years, bringing together the thirty-year-old Tanssimania concert and training event along with the Tanssimylly showcase for folk dance groups. In the Schottische event family, Pispala Schottische will remain as the highlight of June in the even-numbered years and the Folklandia cruise annually in January.
